A Poem
Christmas Day
Seasons greetings fill the air
Charm, kindness, love, and cheer,
Warm and merry hearts burn bright
Sincerity, humanity…Oh, what true delights!

This year, in particular, I want to acknowledge and thank those who have been a light to me and others during challenging times. Without kind, selfless, generous, and humane neighbors – crossing borders, language and class barriers – many of us would not be here, or would be worse off than we are.
Love thy neighbor is a lifestyle and a choice that we must continually adopt. When greed, self-aggrandizement, and hierarchy of persons become the default measure of how we measure and accord value to human lives, resilient individuals who steadfastly shun the unjust weights and measures of society must be praised publicly for the standards they live by.
To the generous, kind, sincere, warm, resilient, and selfless souls – Sudhi, Hardik, Harpreet, Paul, Eddy, and so many others – I want to say thank you. You have been wonderful neighbors, and I hope you are repaid many times over in kind.
One day you will know just how much your kindness has impacted my life, but for today 'thank you' must suffice.
My list of individuals who must be acknowledged is far from complete. However, now is the time for the aforementioned individuals to shine.
From the bottom of my heart – with love, merriment, and sincerity – I wish you a warm and Merry Christmas!
Sincerely,
Theresa Giovanna
